Pen and ink drawings for inspiration

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

I’m drawing like a demon lately! I want to discover my own personal style, a style that anyone can recognise as me no matter what kind of work I create. i have been looking all over the web at other people’s pen and ink drawings and trying to emulate their styles. This has been a valuable process, with me learning how others do things, leading to me learning how I can do things, too. Though it can be tricky sometimes working out exactly what technique, paper, drawing pen, etc. a particular artist used, I’ve found that in getting touch with them directly and asking, most have been very helpful in giving me pointers and more info to get me going.

My dad has had a lot of different interests throughout his life. When he was much younger he liked to go sailing every weekend. This went on for many years until his arthritis got bad. One hobby he has taken up very recently is the art of arranging flowers. His neighbor has been doing this for years and I guess it rubbed off on my father. My father likes doing this because it helps beautify his house and helps with his arthritis. He told me the other day that it’s really quite simple. He said that he follows the flower arranging instructions. I’m not absolutely sure where he gets his instructions; however he always creates very nice arrangements.

Playing Guitar Has Never Been Easier

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Are you looking for an easier and better way to learn to play the guitar?  If so you have come to the right place.  Guitar Mastery Coaching offers more than just basic guitar scales and lessons it provides you with tools like 50 blues jam tracks to play along with to gain more experience and confidence while learning to play the guitar.  You will never be bored when you are learning to play with this system.  Imagine learning to play fast and easy along with jam tracks that teach you the proper methods and techniques.  When I was learning to play the guitar this is the exact method I used and I am now playing with a houseband in a long term gig.

The church I attend was trying to raise money to help a local family that lost their home to a fire.  We have all been helping them by giving them a place to stay while they try to recover whatever they can recover and wait for the insurance company to come through with their money.  I am pretty creative so I thought I would do something a little different.  I decided to make photo calendar templates to print and decorate for the sale.  I sold all 100 of the calendars and it really helped us in our fundraising efforts.  The family was able to buy food and clothing as well as get an apartment to rent while they await insurance payment so they can rebuild their home.

It just takes a little creativity and you can create a great gift in a short amount of time.

Quality Markham Portrait Studios?

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

I live in the Markham area and have been looking for a quality portrait studio. I am looking for someone who will spend time with me and my family — from before the photo session, to during the session and then after the session to pick out the pictures that we want. During a recent Internet search for Markham portrait studios I came across one that looks perfect for us. They do great quality professional pictures and they have the options for pre-session consultations. I think this will help our pictures turn out even better because it will help me figure out what we should wear, and whatnot before we have our pictures taken. I am looking forward to finally getting some good pictures of my family!

Searching for a Career

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

I had just graduated from college with my degree in photography. I wanted to find a great company that I could be a huge asset to. After a lot of interviews, I finally found Wedding Photography Minnesota. This was perfect for me because I was able to be an important factor in a person’s wedding. This was one of the most important days in a person life.  After a few weddings, I really enjoyed my career. Not only did I capture the beauty of the bride and groom, I also focused on scenery to make them stand out. It is a great feeling knowing I am giving someone a memory they keep for a lifetime.

Oak Village – Oakville, Iowa

Friday, February 20th, 2009

Located in Southeastern Iowa is the small community of Oakville where, in the summer of 2008, the Mighty Mississippi River unearthed a prehistoric village from the years between 300 to 400 AD.  The flooding was devastating to the community but the wonders of the life that had been there so many years before is truly a wonderful archeological find. The Oak Village site is in excellent condition so the artifacts that are there are a great way to study the culture and history of those from days gone by.There are a few other sites in Illinois and one just 10 miles north of Oakville that are from the same time period, but this one is in a condition that will afford the removal of nearly 200,000 artifacts.

Covered Bridges in Canada

Sunday, February 8th, 2009

I hope to be able to return to Canada someday and explore more of its beauty and charm.  I have been to New Brunswick twice and there is an abundance of photographic opportunities there.  The lighthouses along the coast, the charming Algonquin Hotel in St. Johns, and lots of old covered bridges.  Covered bridges are something that I enjoy photographing.  There is just something rally intriguing about their rustic appearance and design.  There is an area of New Brunswick that is called the covered bridge capital of Atlantic Canada.  Sussex is a rural community that could keep a photographer quite busy just exploring and photographing the old covered bridges.
