Fifty years ago there was a little recycling taking place. There has always been a market for waste metal and waste paper was always a popular way of charity groups collecting old newspapers to be recycled to make some money for their groups
Today recycling is big business and dozens of different materials can be collected and reused from glass and old kitchen materials to computers and other electronic goods.
We all benefit from a greater use of the materials that are already in our country rather than having to add to our import bill to bring in uneeded raw materials.
Recycling saves us all money, provides jobs and benefits everyone.
