Northern Illinois tourism is never going to be equal to southern Wisconsin tourism. Even though they occupy basically the same geographic region, Wisconsin has the reputation of taking care of the tourist. It is a well deserved reputation as the state of Wisconsin relies much more heavily on the tourism industry that the state of Illinois does and so they naturally have worked to get the word out on how well they do in that area. If you think of a fishing lodge or a hunting lodge or even just a place to go to take your snowmobile, you think of Wisconsin not Illinois.
