There are different types of saddles for different styles of riding, English and Western saddles are the most common. Western Saddles are designed for long rides with fairly open terrain, they are not great for jumping. Tex Tan saddles are hand made, and up to date with the latest styles on the market today. Most Western saddles are designed so that the pommel and cantle are roughly even. Square skirt western saddles are more traditional and should be used, if at all possible, for western showing (not including western games and barrel racing). Some western saddles are handcrafted in the USA out of top quality leather.
